Bu iki fotoğraftada gözüktüğü üzere ilk foto standart mumlarımızı koymak için yapılmış. Yapmamız gereken sadece pet şişenin üst kısmını şişenin geri kalan kısmından ayırmak.
Bu kesme işlemini yaparken son derece hassas kesmemiz gerekiyor. Benim tavsiyem bu pet şişelerde keseceğiniz yerleri öncelikle çiziniz sonra maket bıçağı yada makas yardımıyla düzgünce kesiniz. Makas kullanmak daha sağlıklı olur.
Renkli pet şişeler kullanabilir yada kendiniz istediğiniz desen ve renklerde boyayabilirsiniz.

Aşağıdaki resimde görüldüğü gibi pet şişelerin 2şer adetinin uçlarını birbirine düzgün bir şekilde yapıştırmak gerekecek.



Pet şişenin üst kısımlarını kestikten sonra dip kısımlarından da faydalanıp aşağıdaki gibi tealight denilen kalıp mumları içine koyabileceğimiz tealight lık yapabiliriz.

Burada da yine düzgün şekilde kesmemiz gerekli...



Proje için gereken şey sadece boş pet şişeleri

katlanmış kağıt abajur

A4'ü diyagonallerle katladığınızda aşağıdaki formu elde ediyorsunuz.



Daha sonra elde ettiğiniz üçgenlere dileğiniz deseni çizip bu deseni kalın bir iğne ile delerek belirginleştirebilirsiniz. Bu desenlerin arkasınaüçgen formun içinde kalacak şekilde asetatlar kesip yapıştırın.

Sevdiğiniz fotoğraflardan abajur yapıp farklı bir atmosfer oluşturmak isterseniz yapmanız gerekenler aşağıda;
1.Adım: Fotoğrafların asetat üzerine baskılarını alın. Abajur için aynı boyutlarda altı dikey diktörtgene ihtiyacınız var. Fotoğrafları dikey konumda kullanmak isterseniz yatay konumdaki astetata iki fotoğrafı yanyana basın. Fotoğrafları yatay kullanmak istiyorsanız, her bir asetata tek bir fotoğraf basın



2.Adım: Fotoğrafları ikiye ayırın. Asetatların arkasını kopya kağıdı ile kaplayın.


3. Adım: Altı dikdörtgenin uzun kenarlarına eşit aralıklarla küçük delikler açın



4.Adım: Parçaları bir ip yardımıyla birleştirin. Bunu yaparken kopya kağıdının arka tarafta kalmasına dikkat edin.



5.Adım: Altı parçayı da birleştirdiyseniz iplerin en üst deliklerden sonrasını eşit uzunlukta bırakacak şekilde kesin



6.Adım: Üst ve alt kenarları ince şerit şeklinde kesilimiş bir kartonla kaplayın.



7.Adım: Abajur tamamlandı. Eğer daha fazla süslemek isterseniz her köşeden aşağıya doğru birer püskül yerleştirebilirsiniz.

Malzemeler: Kâğıt havlu rulosu, yoğurt kovası, makas, yapıştırıcı, iri delikli boncuklar ve kalın ip yumağı.
Yapılışı:Kalıp için öncelikle boyutunu kendinizin belirleyeceği bir kova temin edilir. Kovanın dış yüzüne yapıştırıcı sürülür. Kalın ip kovanın etrafına fazla sıkmadan sarılarak yapıştırılır. Kovanın kenarlarına istenen sıklıkta delikler açılır. Kısa parçalar halinde kesilmiş iplerin bir ucu düğümlenir ve teker teker bu deliklerden geçirilir. Uçlarına boncuk takılır ve tekrar düğümlenir. Boncuk yerine düğme, makarna gibi delikli başka malzemeler de kullanılabilir. İp yerine kurdele de sarılabilir. Uzun karton rulonun bir ucuna yapıştırıcı sürülür ve abajurun başlığı üzerine yerleştirilir.

I've finally come to the realization that I have a thing for paper lamps. I had to go through some old photos and I came across this really simple project that didn't make it into the book. It's super easy and it dresses up a glass hurricane in minutes.

When I have too much to do, simple projects like this one satisfy my hands-on craving. I don't know about you but if I go to many days in a row without making or designing something I don't quite feel like myself.



Materials:
- 2 sheets of letter-sized office paper (height is determined by the glass hurricane that you have)
- ruler
- craft knife or scissors
- glue stick
- cylindrical glass hurricane (mine is 4" wide)

How to:
1. Cut 10 strips that are 2" x 11".



2. Attach strips to one another by adding glue along 1/4" the long side of each strip.



3. Attach all 10 strips to one another (forming a cylinder) and wait for the glue to dry.



4. Slide the paper cylinder over the glass hurricane. Done!



TIP - Make it a recyclable project by using one of those countless of meaningless junk mail letters or a misprint of your own. The typography will give the cover a distinctive look.

Two paper lanterns: flowers and pom poms

I planned to make a flower-covered paper lantern for months. Not until I found a white poinsettia garland at a Michael’s after-Christmas clearance did it become a reality. Normally, I’m not a fan of fake flowers, but I think this is a great way to use them. I had some leftover pom-pom fringe, so I festooned the second lantern with pom poms. Now I can’t decide which one I like best. I bought these white 12-inch paper lanterns at Ikea years ago. Raise your hand if you hate the cheap white paper lanterns that Ikea and World Market sell these days. Me too.

Paper lanterns, two ways: flowers and pom poms

Supplies and tools

• white paper lantern and cord kit (try this one or this one)
• hot glue gun and glue
• fake flowers
• scissors
• pom-pom fringe
• compact fluorescent light bulb

Flower-covered lantern:

1. Start by removing the flowers from the garland, remove the plastic pieces, and tear the petals apart (some are hot glued together).

2. Then cut the pom poms off the fringe. You can also buy loose pom poms, but I liked these off-white ones better than the white ones they sell loose.

3. Hot glue the flowers and pom-pom centers onto the lantern. Glue them so they overlap to cover the entire paper surface. The garland I used provided just enough flowers for one 12-inch paper lantern. This one required two 4-foot spools of pom-pom fringe.

4. Insert the cord kit and hang from the ceiling. If you use a compact fluorescent light bulb, you’ll never have to worry about the hot glue melting.

Pom-pom lantern:

1. Apply a thin line of hot glue along the paper lantern’s ridges, a few inches at a time. Adhere the fringe to the glue, then repeat. DO NOT follow the ridge all the way around because the frame is constructed as a spiral, so your ends will never meet. So, when you get six or so inches from the end, start directing the line to connect to where you started. I spaced each line of pom poms six lines apart. This one required three 4-foot spools of pom-pom fringe.

2. Insert the cord kit and hang from the ceiling.

Flower Bud Drum Light Tutorial

I needed a new light for my studio and I decided to make my own!
 The best part about this project is, I didn't have to buy anything to make this!
I love being able to make use of things I already have.

 And except for the light kit and maybe an embroidery hoop, you probably have everything too!

HOW TO MAKE A DRUM LIGHT

Materials needed:

Wooden Embroidery Hoop (Mine was a 14in oval but you can use any size you want)
Wire Hanger
Light Kit (I got one super cheap at IKEA)
Thin Wire (I repurposed  wires from an old Cell Phone Charger)
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Cute Fabric
Ribbon
Light Bulb
Pliers and wire cutters
Scissors
Embellishments!

Step 1. Make a ring to fit around your light kit. Snip the top of a wire coat hanger and use your pliers to manipulate the wire into a circle that will fit around the threaded part of the light kit.

Step 2:  Seperate the two peices of the embroidery hoop and remove any screws or extra hardware. If needed, hot glue the hoop together where it splits to open.

Step 3:  Tie the wire circle made in step 1 to the hoop on all 4 sides with the wire.

Step 4: Prepare your fabric. Cut a strip of fabric that is as tall as you want the shade and as long as the circumfrence of the hoops, plus a couple of extra inches. If you need to, sew two pieces together to get the length you need.

Step 5: Hot glue the edge of the fabric onto the top hoop.

Make sure you start at the back if there are no seams in your fabric, and start on the side if there is a center seam. I forgot to check mine and ended up with a seam in the middle  :(

If your hoop is like mine, when you get to the backside where the hunk of wood is, snip the top and glue the fabric under the wood.  Make sure you leave a couple of inches of fabric at the end for finishing.

Step 6: Line up the fabric on the second hoop and hot glue the bottom of the fabric around the second hoop.

Step 7: Once you get to the end, using fabric glue or hot glue fold the extra fabric over. . .

. . .then fold it over again (to hide the rough edge) and glue it down.

Step 8: Trim the top and bottom with cute ribbon.

Step 9: Cut two more pieces from the wire hanger that are the same length as the height of your lamp. Hot glue one on each side on the inside of your lamp to reinforce the light and to keep it straight and sturdy

Step 10: straighted out the remaining wire hanger and cut 2 pieces as tall as your lamp. Hot glue these on the inside of both sides (on the hoop) to reinforce the lamp, take out the wrinkles, and make it more sturdy.

Note: if your light doesn't hang straight because of extra weight on the embroidery hoop, hot glue small washers or other weight onto the opposite side of the hoop to balance out the weight.

Step 11: Embellish!

I added fabric flowers made from silver satin. ( and they hid the unsightly seam that was on the front.

Lastly: attach the light kit to your new creation and hang according to the light kit directions.
